who is this turbo-clown?

hi, i'm brian. i'm an elearning technologist, community manager, programming enthusiast, and a storyteller. i know, those might seem like an odd combination, but it's my unique blend of passions, and it works for me.
i've been in the elearning field since the end of 2001, and it’s my day job. my journey started as a helpdesk tech for a government elearning platform. from there, i’ve expanded my role to cover the entire spectrum of content development. i've created everything from asynchronous training that could’ve been delivered in an email to fully immersive, synchronous group learning simulations. i’m a big proponent of simulation-based learning, because the best way to learn something is by actually doing it. well, unless it’s nuclear stuff. because that, doesn't work.
by night, however, i am batman i run a gaming community with my friends, praetorian defense solutions. you should come check us out, we commit warcrimes in a military simulation sandbox game called arma 3. i handle a lot of the development work in the group, including:
- our website (complete with an internal personnel management system. (suck it, SAP)
- programming connections between our game server and the personnel system (suck it, Peoplesoft)
- creating our twice weekly sessions, which typically are attended by roughly 20 people (suck it....someone)
but at the end of the day, i'm a true lore whore. stories are my jam, but more than that, i love worldbuilding. a strong narrative isn’t just about events, it's about creating a universe where those events unfold. it’s about crafting immersive worlds that evolve over time, offering both creators and participants a canvas for rich, evolving stories. whether it's for a game, a training module, or a community, a great world allows people to live within it, making the narrative feel real. and that’s the magic of storytelling: it’s not just about the words you write, it’s about creating a space where those words come alive.
so yep. that's me.
